Dr Dan Smethurst
British born Dan Smethurst first came to New Zealand to work at the Dental School in Otago in 1990.
After returning to the UK, Dan gained Membership to the Royal College of Surgeons England. He then completed a Masters program in Orthodontics (with Distinction) and a Membership in Orthodontics at the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh.
Dan had spent 5 years working in a Specialist Orthodontic Practice in Cardiff and also part time in a nearby hospital treating more complicated cases with Specialist Dental and Surgical Colleagues.
Mid 2004, Dan and his Tauranga born wife Cheryl returned to New Zealand with their 3 boys Josh, Dylan and Toby and took over Avenues Orthodontics.
When away from the practice Dan likes to participate in all water sports, some of which include fishing, kite surfing, wind surfing and surfing.
